True, but Xpostfacto is a utility that will allow you to install Panther
on unsupported macs. It's currently still in Beta for Panther, but it
works great with Jag (10.2) installed.
Hi....Eric, if Xpostfacto can create a truly reliable patch (We all know how
reliable "Beta-anything" can be), I'll be all over it!! I'd love to run
Panther on my Beige G3/G4-500 Sonnet workhorse machine and several others as
well. Mikie

Actually, XPostFacto works very well on 7x00/8x00/9x00 systems. My main (well, my *only*) system is a 9600/G3 that runs Jaguar. It's as stable as any other computer I've owned in the past WRT OS X (original TiBook, 2000iMac DV/SE, 2002Quicksilver). It doesn't cost anything, and if you alread have Panther, then you're well on your way :D
I've heard the only problems with Beige G3 machines is that onboard video isn't supported as of yet, so as of right now, you'd need a PCI video card to run Panther.
You can check out the Unsupported OSX forum if you need advice, in addition to the XPostFacto forum mentioned previously.
