Sure, as do a lot of people. But I have found that sometimes the mail
rules/filters get confused and redistribute posts elsewhere. Anything else
you can use to help the filter engine is, IMO, useful.
I've never managed to confuse Mail.app yet and I'm on about 15 different lists. It's what you use as the filer criteria that counts - I try to be specifically general (an oxymoron, i know), in that I try to make it apply to that one list in question but also with as wide a sweep as possible to catch everything and get it in the right folder. Generally I use 'All Recipients' Contains -> <list e-mail address> -> Move to -> <List folder>.
As for adding ID tags to the start of subjects this has been discussed a few times in the 3 years I've been on LEM lists and rejected each time.
