Going from my brother's 8100 - that has 2 SCSI busses... the first one is inside and harder to get to, and the second is right at the top and you don't need to take anything out to see it. hope this helps. HDD on the first and his CDROM is on the second.

Maybe this cable has a bad circuit or dirty connector. Also it's still not clear to me which SCSI bus it is on.
