indeed - the second scsi bus connectors are at 
the top with mr cd drive. and hard drives at the 
bottom.

I must be VERY confused. I thought this was about 
a 36 Gig drive sold
by you to another lister who has moved it from 
the top to the bottom
of a 9600.

Anyway,  if the CD ROM is on the other bus then 
the  drive in
question is very probably unterminated. As the 
stock Mac setup from
the factory has the termination on the CD drive. 
 So try terminating
the HD.
