Going from my brother's 8100 - that has 2 SCSI
busses... the first one is inside and harder to
get to, and the second is right at the top and
you don't need to take anything out to see it.
hope this helps. HDD on the first and his CDROM
is on the second.

I must be VERY confused. I thought this was about a 36 Gig drive sold by you to another lister who has moved it from the top to the bottom of a 9600.

Anyway, if the CD ROM is on the other bus then the drive in question is very probably unterminated. As the stock Mac setup from the factory has the termination on the CD drive. So try terminating the HD.
