I think the writer means "Don't do it!" rather than an answer to your
question "Is it bad?" ... But this is just my interpretation which may be
wrong. I say from me: Don't do it. The much advertised benefit of USB is its
hot plugable/swapable spec - in contrast to ADB...

Definitely not.
You could possibly fry the motherboard by unplugging ADB devices while the =
machine's booted.
