It's not really a user hack with Safari. You need to download Tinker Tool:

<http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html>

which is an app and you can set in its Prefs that Safari can 'disguise' itself as MSIE 
Win 6.0 plus numerous other browsers.

This is also available, built-in, with the latest Mozilla's, FireFox, Camino, etc.
