Does anyone know a way around the requirement for built-in USB by some peripherals? My computer has an Entrega 89A 4-port USB card. I was given a Canon ink-jet printer (exact model escapes me at the moment) but cannot make it work. It shows up in the Chooser, but when I try to print to it I get an error message that the printer could not be found. I have tried every combination of Entrega, Apple, and Canon extensions I can think of, all to no avail. Canon's tech support says that built-in USB is required.

Does anyone have a workaround for this problem? Would a newer USB card solve it?

This sounds like some of the problems people have reported with 4-port cards. Try a real basic 2-port card (if you need more ports, get a hub) and see if it works.
