Most likely it requires the upgraded PCI bus in the Blue & White G3 rather than a 'G3 Processor'.

The IOGGear card that wouldn't work in my 8500 was the GIC220U USB 2.0
model. The maker informed me that it requires a G3 processor (my 8500 has
the 604/120). Maybe it would work in an 8500 with a G3, or maybe an IOGear
Usb 1.1 card would work.

Can IOGEAR & other USB cards that won't work on Macs be flashed

IOGear does work on Macs. I have installed many IOGear 2 port pci

If you don't do it excellently, don't do it at all. Because if
it's not excellent, it won't be profitable or fun, and if you're not in
business for fun or profit, what the hell are you doing there?"
