Can IOGEAR & other USB cards that won't work on Macs be flashed (however that is done)?

IOGear does work on Macs. I have installed many IOGear 2 port pci cards that cost $14-20 and work great!

I wish MINE did... no go on the 9600 Sonnet 400mHz G3 with OS9.1/gremlins. It appears in System Profiler, but no device connected to the cars appears or works.

My generic Dick Smith (an Australian electronics-parts supplier) DSE PCI USB 1.0 2-port card XH6646 doesn't go either, though I was told it is Mac-compatible. Again, it appears on the Profiler, but not any attached devices. I will ask Dick Smith if it has a OHCI controller chip.

No such luck.

I use a 4 port USB/FW combo card and have had only a few problems. Have a
HP printer and a Firewire CD-RW connected. You need to install the Apple
USB and/or Firewire support *prior* to installing the card and be certain
you have the right card-(USB 1.1 or 2.0) for your system. Make sure the
card is properly seated and you reset the cuda button. On one system, had
the same problem, had to pull the card, re-install the Apple USB support
1.41, and reset cuda button, then all worked properly.

I pulled the card and reinstalled it after installing USB Support 1.4.1. Hit the CUDA. No difference made. Card seated carefully and rechecked. tried another slot, no progress.

The IOGGear card that wouldn't work in my 8500 was the GIC220U USB 2.0
model. The maker informed me that it requires a G3 processor (my 8500 has
the 604/120). Maybe it would work in an 8500 with a G3, or maybe an IOGear
Usb 1.1 card would work.

Same card as my first (still installed).

Most likely it requires the upgraded PCI bus in the Blue & White G3 rather than a 'G3 Processor'.

Seems probable indeed!
