I notice that there are several places I have QT plugins (not all aliases either).
1. There are a couple loose in the HD: Quicktime plugin and QuicktimePlugin.class, 2. The same two in the folder called Quicktime in my Applications folder 3. In the system folder in the folder "Internet plug-ins", the same two characters show up 4. In a folder called "Plug-ins". Here they are aliases. (original being in 3 above) And these characters show up in my browser folders also, eg. iCab... Folder/Plug-ins They are everywhere. In error I updated to QT 6 yesterday. So I have forgotten where all were beforehand, but probably similar. I'd say it was possible to have just the originals somewhere and all else aliases. Right? Anyone have a simpler arrangement, I mean I don't mind THAT much that they here there and everywhere but isn't this a bit ... well ... showy of them? And while I am at it, for a long time I have noticed and sometimes tried to rationalise the Quicktime extensions in the system folder (with bad results): There are some Quicktime extensions loose and some in a folder called "Quicktime Extensions". Why can't they all go in the logical sounding folder? And am I right to assume that "authoring" extensions can be inactivated if one is just using the QT player to play things? Please, don't anyone feel obliged to answer all these questions. I am running 9.0.4 on a 7600 with a G3/4 upgrade ... David Elmo -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
