Get a camera with removable storage, compact flash, SD card, etc. Then get a USB card, and a USB -based media reader, and just use that.


With the media reader the camera cards will appear as disk drives on the desktop, and you can do anything you want with them, whereas the camera software is often clumsy and slow.

Moreover, using the card reader means you don't have to run down the camera batteries to connect.
