Actually, that's not true. I have an IBM 4 gig 50-pin SCSI drive I popped into my 7300 and my 9.1 disk recognized it right away and formatted/installed to it. The jumpers have to be set correctly, however. My drive has (count 'em) three jumpers on it, each doing a different function. But the drive works flawlessly. Of course, Apple-branded SCSI drives will always be best in this area (short of going IDE), but there are alternatives.@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

You can use ResEdit ( free for dl from Apple ) to open the resource list of supported drives. This list can be modified. But I am not an expert here.
Others on the list may volunteer the info.
