Adrian,
I have a Cordless Logitech Trackman Wheel on my PC as well as my PCI Mac.
When I am using Illustrator it sometimes feels a little too sensitive for
some
particular movements. Other than that, I like it a lot!

Why not the USB version of the TurboMouse/ExpertMouse?

I haven't used mine with a PCI card for years but I seem to recall
that it was OK with my beigeG3 when I used a USB/Firewire in it.
