1) Yes, it's slow in odd places. They've taken a program designed for OSX and managed to beat it into OS 9 shape.
Upgrade to OSX and watch the same program fly...Mozilla is really fast under OSX, faster than on an equivalent PC, for sure..
2) Use a different browser, then... just use the Mozilla mail component, which has the mail filtering you want.

Thanx, and well YES and NO -mozilla was increadibly slow at ours even before OS X was ever released.
