I've got a PowerMac 9600 and it appears the ethernet card is no longer working, I can't connect to the internet via my cable modem and Comcast. (Tech support calls w/ Comcast have resulted in good connection results on their end)
Can I just buy a new one and stick it in one of my many PCI expansion slots?

There is no 'ethernet card' in your 9600. It is built into the motherboard. I have Comcast as well and their tech support for Mac is pretty 'duh.'
Did you just start this service and are trying to get it going?
What OS are you using?
