This might sound obvious, but have you tried the _ORiNOCO_ drivers?

Yes, still no luck.

I know that one version of the PCI card is incompatible with the
ORiNOCO drivers (according to the source - Proxim. For those that
don't know, Proxim owns the ORiNOCO brand). It could be that you
have this card.

I probably have this card since nothing I've tried works.

Let me know if your card works when you get it.

Well, the card arrived and I've finally had a chance to try it out.

I installed it in my 5400, pressed the power button, heard a bong ... and nothing.

The screen stays dark and the hard drive doesn't spin up. :-(

This happens with or without a wireless card in the slot.

So, Chris, it looks like my PCI card doesn't work at all with my Mac. But I had suspected that when it arrived - I'm pretty sure it's the version Proxim doesn't support on Macs. It could be that the card doesn't like the 5400-type board, but I don't really think that's likely enough to dig my PowerTower Pro out of storage to try it out on a 9500-type board.

Oh well.

Peace,
Drew
