<I used carbon lib 1.4 with toast and OS 8.6 and that worked for me - but 48 mb of ram might be too little to be able to use toast and burn a cd. Please anyone prove me wrong.>
Well, I don't have OS 8.6, I have 8.1, and now two people have told me that Toast won't work on 8.1, alas. No, I'm not getting 8.6 (or any more RAM in the foreseeable future) -- believe it or not, the $15 I just spent on the Toast which won't work is the extent of my computer toys budget. :-( But, on the subject of OS 8.6, I'm curious. I had read somewhere -- unfortunately I can't recall where, that 8.6 and up don't get along too well with a Mac 7200. What do you -- and other folks on this list, have to say about that? And, is it possible that any of you direct me to free CD burning Mac software I can d/l off the web somewhere? Both my bf and I had spent a whole afternoon web searching and couldn't find any (which is why I bought the Toast)...but maybe you guys are more knowledgeable than I am? Note: all I want out of this CDRW is to be able to use it as a backup machine -- to be able to transfer data from my 7200 to a CD and reload it. I don't need the fancy stuff (i.e., burning DVDs or music CDs). Thanks! ~Yersinia. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
