I am so glad I have subscribed to power mac list! I have spent nearly a
year with the frustratingly
slow modem dial up.
Mac 8600/300 using Supra 33,600 data was set to 57,600 and working great
on system 8.5, but along came
a thunderboomer and ruined that set up (modem and computer).
Purchased G3/333 and another Supra and all I could get was 23, 000 never
any higher. Couldn't set the supra
in the "modem" folder even to 33,600.
Finally went back to the "old" Configure Free PPP set up and trashed the
"remote Access". I am now moving
at 57,600.
The archives have references to updates/changes for ext. modems , but alas
I wasn't smart enough to make them work for me.
Have been trying to get the "sound off" to work when dialing using "my"
setup but in the init string, ATMO/ATM1 doesn't work!
Again, do appreciate reading about similar problems.
