I have mac os 10.2.8 installed on a 9600/G4 700. My question is when I try to use safari or explorer they both error out. Usually it only happens when try to type something in, like a search at yahoo, etc. I do have mozilla 1,7rc 3 installed and it works fine. I also cannot use the mail program that is on the dock. It errors out almost as soon as it starts.
Try asking on the UnsupportedOSX list:

with more details, such as type of upgrade card, amount of RAM, etc.
I'm no expert, but sounds like it could be an issue of defective RAM. I've also heard that leaving the memory cache chip in can cause problems with processor upgrades, since many (most, or all?) processor upgrades have their own L2 cache.
