I also did the same thing. What you need to do is find a Mac OS 9 install disk. Sometimes it is the luck of the draw. I paid 7 for an Ibook copy of os 9.1 found I couldn't use it so I again looked on the list got someone else sold me the right type of disk. My old dual proc pci 8500 is now upgraded to 9.2.2, and working great.
