.avi is a 'container' format for any number of different codecs. QT will play some, but not others. The best choice is to grit your teeth and download Windows Media Player from Microsoft.
and meadeea player will play them ? it never worked for me...
The original three Intel Indeo codecs used by MS in the avi container are available for most platforms. Intel made sure of that! :)
But there are at least six other codecs that are MS proprietary. A couple of them are included with the Mac version of Windows Media Player. The others are only available in the Windows version.
