Hello Bruce,

Thanks for your comment. I have been seriously considering doing what you
suggested! This old router I got from the SwapList is becoming a nightmare.
I was at OfficeMax yesterday, but they only had two routers to choose from,
one for over $50.00, and the other was $100.00

Does it really matter what kind of new router I get? Will it still be
compatible to get my older Macs online (PowerBook 540c, PowerMac 7300/500),
and of course I need to get my new G4 1Ghz iBook online through the router
as well.

It really doesn't matter. All the router 'sees' is ethernet connections. It doesn't care of the ethernet packets come from a mac, a PC, or a really, really, well trained duck with a highly modified Commodore 64...

All of the routers I've seen are configured via a web browser, and while the screen shots may be from Windows, it doesn't really matter...anything that can run a web browser of almost any sort will do it properly.

Linksys and D-link both have reasonably good instruction manuals; I've not seen Belkins' but I presume theyre pretty good as well, having seen their instructions for other devices.
