---Do I need the external cache filled with 256 or 500k? What about the backside? I have a sonnet 400Mhz G3 card.
If you are using a backside cache then it isn't worth bothering with an L2 cache and there is some indication it can cause a problem so just remove / don't install any L2 cache. The Backside cache is whatever is on the Sonnet card, you'd have to check that.
