There are lots of things to check and sort out.
Try a few things: Turn VM on if its off. Do a clean installof OS8.6 or OS9.1. Try to
run OS9.1 with just ONE 128-meg 5v DIMM.

And what Video Card and other PCI cards do you have in this 9600 ????

Do not interleave.
Check your DIMMs, to see if any are the thin-chip hybrid type (3.3v).

Check the little controller chip in the middle of each DIMM and sort them out. See if
your 9600 has the IDT FCT74 163244 ones mixed in with the IDT FCT7 4162244 type and
try one type or the other.

I have the Sonnet 800 G4 in my Daystar Genesis and a much slower (300 Mhz G3) in my
9600. About a gig of RAM in each. The 9600 required Virtual Memory ON and no
interleaving. For most operations its as fast as the Daystar !
