move the video card to a bottom or top slot.

Borrow a known supported Radeon card and see if it
helps. Its what I'm
using with my own G4 800 Sonnet-infested Daystar
Genesis.

What other PCI cards do you have ?

You probably don't need to cut off the Resistor: I got
a note from
Sonnet in response to my query and Sonnet says that
the G4 800 card
will ignore the 512k cache on the motherboard.

Hi Mike,

Sorry I didn't relay the hardware setup.

I'm running a Radeon 7000, mac edition, in the bottom
slot
generic usb card in slot 2
generic fireware card in slot 3
3 internal scsi drives, 1,4, and 9 GB

All I've added to the stock OS9.1 install is:

Open GL bits from 9.2 for the Radeon card
Sonnet software
ATIRadeon driver software
a few fonts
atm
HP printer driver
Epson printer driver

I tried to duplicate the lockups at scrolling again,
and couldn't make it do it again. I did get it to
become non-responsive except for cursor movement when
playing multiple QT clips at once.

Sometimes, but mostly not, after I do the
three-fingered salute to clear the lockup, upon
re-boot, it will crash as the sonnet extension starts
to load (the first extension to load) giving me a
system error, bus error dialogue box with a restart
button. It will then successfully restart if I hit the
restart button in the dialogue box.
