Well, lots of extensions are like that. All those USB Sprocket things...those aren't loaded until called by the OS.
You could probably spend a few years just trying different combinations of your extensions mix, but if you take that long to boot up you're either running way too many extensions, or you have a lot of memory and didn't turn off the memory check (hold down Option when opening the Memory control panel to get to the hidden checkbox to turn it off)
