Their website says it will run on a "PowerPC," and then they furnish "G3,

than some of the early G3's and see no reason why their DSL would not run on this box.

I have a 9600 running just find under SBC/Yahoo DSL. Just don't make the mistake of trying to use their terrible software. It will work just fine if you configure your various settings yourself.

I did find, by trial and error, that you need to use:
    For Receiving: pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
    For Sending: smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com:"your user name"@sbcglobal.net

I have a mixture of wired and wireless machines, running OS9, OSX, Windows XP Pro and Newton OS2 all using the DSL stuff we have.

Even Mac Plus certainly has enough CPU power to keep up with the speed.

But the issue with xDSL is usually PPPoE (PPP Over Ethernet - the link protocol used by many xDSL services). The versions of PPPoE for Mac OS 8/9 are slow and sometimes unstable. For folx using those classic OS', I often recommend installing an off-the-shelf NAT Router that supports PPPoE directly.

Nancy, does SBC require PPPoE or are they a "modern" provider that just feeds pure ethernet out of their modem?
