Hi, people. I'm wondering about PowerPC 9600/300 PCI and RAM slots. The
thing is that I'm considering an opportunity to buy a USB 2.0 card and
RAM chips. What I was not sure about is if they are useful for my
PowerPC. Someone told me that old PC RAM chips could work in my machine.
I'm talking about Pentium II chips. Is that right? I mean, is there any
particular specification for mac chips or you can use any chip that fits
the specifications of the slot you requiere? By the way, what exactly
are the RAM chips my computer needs? is it PC66 DIMM SDRAM 168-pin? must
they be 70ns or 60ns?
Regarding PCI slots I have a pretty similar question. What is the PCI
slot voltage for 9600/300 machines? is the compatibility with mac due to
drivers or is there any architecture difference between PC and MAC PCI
cards?

I have a 9600 / 300 MHz. The PC RAM may work but I am no expert
here. I use Chips from OWC.
My Pc using buddy said my chips look the same as what many similar
era PCs use. EDO should be alright.

I have a Firewire / USB 2 card in this machine. But it has been said
on this list that our legacy PCI Macs cannot support USB 2 transfer
rates.
