I have finally been piqued enough to ask.
I keep reading you guys messing with cache, bigger, smaller, faster, slower.
For what purpose?
Unless you have a large memory intense project. like adding gausian (sp) blur in Photoshop, rendering movies or sorting large files, does it really make any noticeable difference?
I don't think that any of that is noticeable to the average computer user who opens files, types, copies, surfs, etc.
If the cache on a G4 or G3 isn't enabled, the system runs like molasses in wintertime. With the original processors, adding 256 k cache to the system (where there was none) makes very noticeable difference in anything you do, moving from 256 to 512k or 1 mb made less, but still noticeable.
