I have two 8600/250s, one I use and one for parts. Both have the 390 watt power supply. The questions I have are:

(1) Were there two types of motherboards used to build the 8600/250?
(2) If so, how can you tell if it is a Kansas board?
(3) If the board is a Kansas board, can I just upgrade to the 540 watt power supply in order to install a faster 300 Mz CPU card?
(4) Where would be the best place to purchase the 540 watt power supply (other than the LEM swap list, of course)?

If I decide to go to a G3 or G4 PCI card instead, I would still want to go for the 540w power supply since the 8600 will be the backup workhorse of my network. I have two Quadra 800s, a Quadra 840AV, the 8600, and a 733 G4 networked together.

Any help would be appreciated.

Robert
