OK, but what about USB 2.0?? I have an 8600 .. and not to pile more into the case.. but what about getting USB 2.0 working with an IDE drive external??
Anyone have that working ok?
You'll need OS X for USB 2 and I'm not sure if it will work at USB 2 speeds even if it does work. A Firewire PCI card and external Firewire case would be the way to go for an external IDE drive. USB sucks for drives and you can keep the Firewire drive for your next Mac.
I know IDE is cheaper but IMO SCSI is still better and not that expensive if you look around.
