And: does anyone know of a cheap/reliable supplier for
PRAM batteries and the typical shelf life for these?

I just ordered five of these from OWC. The stock
off-the-shelf price at RS is about $10, so four bucks
each is a steal!

These lithium batteries tend have pretty long shelf
life, but I wouldn't buy anything over two years old.
These particular 3.6v's are all pretty fresh stock, so
it's a real no-brainer.
