Just don't attempt to install the Earthlink software. If they give you a DSL modem, you should be able to just connect the modem, connect your 6400/G3 (with either a CommSlot ethernet card or PCI ethernet card) to the modem, set TCP/IP to the card and for DHCP, and go to town.
