Try XLR8yourmac.com for their archives on Adaptec cards. I have no experience with the 29160 yet but as I surmise 160 MB/sec peak transfer rates are achievable with short data bursts of 128k or less, the speed settling down to 27-28 MB/sec with long file transfers of 8 MB or more. For benchmarking go to ATTO's site and download a copy of ExpressTools 2.2 A 2940UWPI (Mac ROM) card I received was DOA (black screen, no startup chime, nada) on my 7600 so I figure its ROM was corrupted but couldn't update it on the Mac. I tried this trick: flash with a PC ROM on a PC, reinstall on the 7600 then flash it with a Mac ROM - it worked. Firmware 1.1 for OS 8.5.1 or earlier, 1.2 for OS 8.6 up, so 1.3beta is probably for OS X. Not sure if 10.2.8 has a SCSI Manager like Classic OS, but the 29160 might run (stand alone) without it.
