I have found no reviews or reports of successes or failures of the firmware and driver versions for the Adaptec PowerDomain 29160 SCSI card.
Can anyone share your experiences using this card on a Beige (mine's a rev 1 MT) in both OS 9 and OS X (10.2.8 preferably). Please let me know which firmware and driver version combo worked best. Any booting problems? I can not boot from this card. Two different Seagate 18 GB Cheetahs.

Try XLR8yourmac.com for their archives on Adaptec cards.
All I could find there were archives for old drivers and OS 10.0 - 10.1.x and doesn't apply to newer drivers with 10.2.x OS. The card is still being sold today yet there's no good information.
I tried this trick: flash with a PC ROM on a PC, reinstall on the 7600 then flash it with a Mac ROM - it worked.
It's a Power Domain Mac version and as far as I know the firmware versions can be flashed
Firmware 1.1 for OS 8.5.1 or earlier, 1.2 for OS 8.6 up, so 1.3beta is probably for OS X.
1.2 is for OSX as well. 1.3 was a beta firmware release a couple of years ago and I've seen no reviews or reports. Neither gives 100% functionality of the OS although the 1.2 bugs were minor. Just wish there was more information. I'm going to try and see if someone at Adaptec will talk to me even though I don't meet there criterion for (free) tech support.
Not sure if 10.2.8 has a SCSI Manager like Classic OS, but the 29160 might run (stand alone) without it.
I did get it to boot in 9.2.2 after I pulled my USB card. It was a USB 2.0 card and only worked in OS X anyway. But that's the whole point. I want to boot into and use everything in OS X... not 9.2.
? Don't know if it's "automagical" or not in 10.2.8. 10.2.8 works connected to the card, just won't boot. Yet...
Between this and an ATTO with another drive it's been a project!
