Subject: [PCI] Seagate Hard Drive Reliability?

It's been forever since I've had to buy a HD, so I'd like to get a second
opinion. IIRC Seagates are/were hard working, reliable drives. Can anyone
 on the list confirm/contradict this?

I bought a Seagate Baracuda 30 gig HD about 2 yrs. ago. I have it hooked up
to my 6500 running OS 9.1 through a Firewire port. It does fine. It is an
external, though.

Seagate has a good reputation. They are manufactured, or were at least, over
in Scott's Valley about 30 miles from here. (I live in Silicon Valley).

Oh, one other thing related but perhaps off this topic--but arguably, facts about recent Seagate drives are somewhat irrelevant to a 1995 model as well. :-)

Anyway, CompUSA has a 160 GB IDE Seagate drive for $40 (really closer to $50 depending on your sales tax) plus sales tax on $120, after three rebates.

Fry's and perhaps Outpost.com has a 200 GB Seagate IDE drive for $50 plus tax on $110, after one rebate.

The OP wanted to put the Seagate in a 7600 with SCSI the cost of an IDE interface card would have to be figured in on your suggestion.
