I have an adapted SCSI drive in my 9500 and it's been no problem.
It's a VHDCI RAID configured drive (sometimes called SCSI-5) and I have a
small adapter which converts to the regular SCSI pinned configuration.

The adapter itself has a SCSI ID so the drive takes the next ID in the
sequence. The adapter doesn't show up in the Apple System Profile or any
other SCSI reporting tools (SCSI Probe) so it looked a bit odd to begin
with that the reports 'skipped' an ID no.

So, although I agree that the misrepresentation of these items by
Afterthemac is a bad thing, actually having an adapted drive may not cause
you any problems.
