Hope this will be a quick and easy one: I have a 7500/100 (ID 68, PPC604, although the system profiler shows 120 MHz, probably was upgraded already), that I wished to upgrade to a faster CPU. A kind soul on the swap list sold me a 300 MHz 604e processor card, and during the last few days I tried to swap the cards with no luck: the faster one (Apple 820-0823-A, set @ 300 MHz) will not boot - no start-up chime, no HD activity (other than the initial spin), nada. Plugging back the original CPU brings the 7500 back to life.
My question: is this a possible upgrade path? If yes, where did err? Do I need to reset the CUDA and/or logic board? -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
