Dear Ben, I don't know where in the world you live but I'm told that cards with the chipset AgereUSS344S work fine with macs and were sold cheaply by a firm called belkin at one stage.
I just got hold of one on e-bay, but it hasn't arrived yet so I havn't been able to try it.
