Here are other questions about moving from one machine to another. XP (32 bit) to 7 (64 bit) in my case.
I tried installing my Ms Office 2007 programs on my new 7 machine and got the error message that they couldn’t find any old Office programs on my machine to upgrade from. (well, of course not, this is a new machine) what are they looking for? Is there something I can put on my 7 machine first to let it know that the “new” office is an upgrade? I tried putting my printer back on the new machine and found that the old machine is a 32 bit and the new 7 is a 64 bit machine. So I went to Canon and I thought I downloaded a new driver. It still didn’t work. In looking around, I saw two drivers both 32 bit. Is there a way I can FORCE the 7 machine to recognize a new 64 bit driver? I bought a 89 dollar upgrade to “Professional” at the time of purchase but I don’t know how to use it yet. Supposedly, I will be able to read and use my XP programs on the Win 7 computer. Does this help? One smart move I made before all this happened is I joined the PCUsers Group. I have really valued your input – everyone. Thanks Tons!!!
