I have the earlier 450Z and have taken several thousand pictures. I've
not seen the *bad* lens on mine. I have a friend that just bought the
490Z and he is thrilled with it. I just bought my son a 460Z and he too
is having a ball. I've done macro work for my genealogy where I've
copied documents and books just fine. If I have any complaint, it would
be that on occasion, the exposure is a little dark as the light sensing
system default is a full averaging. It has the ability to do a spot
exposure and that takes care of it just fine. You do need to use some
of the tweaks that are available at times, but then I also do this with
my standard film cameras to achieve certain exposures and effects as
well. I have a number of the photos take with this camera on my web site
