thanks both Tom and Jeff......things seem to be working well here
now......from what I hear, many people have had probs with ZA's new
version......it seems to lock up everyone's computers when they try to run
it for the first time......I seem to have fixed it by just disabling my
virus protector while it installs.....I've now got it working fine in win98,
win2K and in winXP.....lots of people are telling me it won't work with
winXP but I've got it working :-)

people are telling me they can't get Boot Magic to work with XP either and
I've got that working too......problem is I don't know how or
why.....LOL....except that I'm running XP as a dual boot with 98, so I just
set up the boot sequence in 98

anyway, setting up ZA to allow access from my other computers via adding
them in the advanced security settings has stopped ZA from stopping them

Tom.....you really don't have to put up with ZA's nag screens......there's a
checkbox to disable the nags.....then you can just go in and view the log
when you want to

Jeff......I rarely get alerts on my machines from anything outside (this is
becuz of my router I'm sure...like Tom said.....the router has a hardware
firewall so not too much gets thru....plus I really believe my cable ISP
must be doing something right, cuz I'm on a bunch of yahoo/topica lists
where everybody keeps saying they are getting viruses and I don't seem to
ever even see them , and I use OUTLOOK!!)....altho if I turn ZA off, I flunk
the shields up tests.....the main reason I keep ZA on my machine is it's the
only firewall I know of that also checks for things going OUT of my computer
(I don't think BlackIce does this?)......so, if by some slim chance, I ever
get a worm in one of my machines, ZA will tell me if it tries to access the
internet.....I know this is true cuz I once did something really dumb and
DID get a worm and ZA nailed it when it tried to send something out, even
tho I had accidentally disabled my virus protector.....big phew!!

so...if anybody out there has had probs trying to get the new version of ZA
to work, just end task on it, uninstall it, reboot, turn off your virus
protector and reinstall it, then turn the virus protector back on.....that
seems to have done the trick for me......and, contrary to what many people
are saying, ZA will indeed run on WinXP

so......all's peaceful here again :-)

Hi Linda,

Couple things come to mind here.
Browse master may be trying to access the machine windows does this
routinely.
I don't think it matters if files are shared the machine is still part of a
workgroup so windoze tries to keep track. One of your machines is appointed
browse master and it may be the one that's trying the access. M$ doesn't
make it easy to figure out which machine is the browse master. I'll provide
the details if you are interested. It will be an NT or NT server machine it
they exist in the workgroup.Otherwise there is a specific pecking order. It
may be setting off ZA. I don't use ZA just got tired of all those Nags and
popups. With your router and NAT you may not need ZA unless you are a belt
and suspenders type lol.

TCP/IP may just be renewing itself. I would need more info to do much more
with this.
Hope this helps.
