A driver is a piece of software that enables a computer to communicate with
a peripheral device.
In easier terms, it would be like having a stereo that you wanted to hook
into your television. You have the two parts, but without the specific RCA
cable to attach it, the stereo will not work with the TV. The cable would
be like the driver. It gets the game (the stereo) to work with the OS (the
TV). (Sort of like an adapter.)
