Hi Morton,
I think you mean your "defrag" is taking 45 minutes. A lot depends upon the size of
your HDD and how
fragmented it is (that depends upon how you use your computer and when it was last
defragged).
Make sure you do a scandisk before defraggeing, try this defragging right after
booting up the
computer, and try it after different intervals (many suggest every three days but
again, that depends
upon computer use).
I have a 30gig HDD (one and a half is used), and after 3 days a defrag takes about 15
minutes (the 10%
mark is always a hangup, no problem there). Then if you watch the details you will
eventually see large
chunks coming together; and again, should take no more than 15 minutes. Hope this
helps.

Subject: PCWorks: Slow Defrag
Running W98SE, AMD K6 350, 3 gig HD. 160Meg RAM with Nod32 A/V.
Scandisk takes about 45 min. Pauses briefly (about 30sec) after starting,
progress bar sits on 10% for long time even though scanning is progressing.
Was doing this prior to installing Nod32.
Any suggestions please.
