No, no networking. So how is a tro*an scan run w/o an AV
program? I'll try that. BTW I always have norton set to the
max heuristics. I went ahead and just set my swap file for
custom size like I normally have, will see if that does
anything but unfortunately I think it probably will not. I
have another dupe video card here, I may put it in if I don't
get any other suggestions on this.
Thanks Barry,

Clint! Sounds like you have put a great deal of confidence
in Windows
managing your swap file. You may be correct about your video
card being
bad but I did not read if this PC is connected to a
peer-to-peer network or
not. You could also have a "hitch hiker" that you picked up
through your
DSL. Run a tr*jan scan, not just Norton's AV and set it for
different
modes. Like, "a single file", a directory, a complete drive,
and lastly a
"heuristic" mode for suspicious and brand new codes not
represented in your
machine before

But all in all you DO have one sh*t load of components
running on one
machine and the first thing I would do is not let Windows
manage my swap
file, but the 2.5 X thing is outdated now and the prevailing
theory is NOW
to either let a third party app like Cacheman manage it, or
just set it for
the exact amount of your system RAM, which is how I have mine
set and also
have Cacheman customize my assorted cache files etc.
