Bummer, I sure thought that this was it. Peter suggested the next best thing, that is, to run the IE repair tool. I spent some time looking through my previous postings to see if there was another answer, but that came up negative. A search of the net mainly yields the same answers or a variation of an incorrect path to the image (which is not your case, only for those who develop web pages). Some other curious results point to improper software installs for programs other than IE, specifically image editors or servers. However, I did find this rather non-obvious answer. "You might have some browser control software installed on your computer like Net Nanny or At Guard.
