I don't know if WOPR works with 2000, but it does with word 97. There is a utility there called cleanup that will do what you are asking. In all likelyhood, there is a hard return at the end of those first lines (and possibly the second as well). WOPR would do what they called a import text cleanup and basically concantinate with appropriate spacing, those lines.
