Hi, Can I try this again please as I still have not solved the problem.
The problem seems to be that the processor gets more and more busy / loaded as programs are opened and closed. When closing down the computer the system never gets to the "You my now switch of your computer." A bar graph indicator of processor work load gets longer and longer, but not from all program shutdowns. Cntr/Alt/Del and close individual programs often gets "not responding" or "still busy" responses. I seem to be inflicted with "Terminate and Stay Running". The system had run well for more than a year until I had a shorted wire in the VGA cable connector plug. System = AMD450 K6-2, Win98, 64 MB Ram Pc133, 30GGB HDD, SND, 1.44, 1.2, 40xCD, PCI S3 2MB Video. I have re-loaded Win98 twice. I have loaded the operating system onto a different HDD. I have upgraded to Win98SE. I have tried without the peripherals and Snd Card and PCI Modem. I have tried two other video cards, one PCI, one an EISA bus type. I have tried a 200MHz IDT Winchip. Even with "Fast Shutdown" disabled in MSCONFIG the problem is still there. I am now thinking must be MB problem, but would like any suggestions to try first. Pat Stevens, Zimbabwe.
