Greetings PCWorkers, Today I installed an update on an auto repair diagnostics machine. Before the upgrade, we were advised to install additional memory, and add a DVD drive, which I did. When it came time to "register" the repair DVD rom (which basically means to let the program *see* the disc) the program saw it as an unknown disc. After much frustration, I broke down, and yes..I called Tech support :-(!
After the usual 15 or so menu selections, the obligatory account #,name address, etc, etc, and after asking what I had done, they told me to check the brand of DVD. It is a Samsung. They informed me they were sorry to hear that..but they had that problem quite often. They recommended I purchase a Toshiba or Hitachi DVD. I spoke with the local tech who had advised me of what was needed for the upgrade, and he said he had never heard anything like that (about Samsung's not working properly). He also stated that he would ship a Toshiba DVD at no charge, which is good. However, my question is; Has anyone ever had an experience like this with a Samsung? I thought they made fairly decent equipment...and I guess I have egg on my face now. Appreciate your input, Marlene ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
